On July 2nd, 2009, four thousand US Marines of the 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade launched a major helicopter assault into a Taliban stronghold. Filmmaker Danfung Dennis joined the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine company 18km behind enemy lines to seize a bridge. Within a few hours the military was in a life-and-death struggle which lasted for 3 days, and took the life of Lance Corporal Charles Sharp, from Adairsville, Georgia. Being a war journalist has got to be one of the scariest jobs on earth and I have to commend him and the US Marines for having the bravery to go into an area that they know will not be safe whatsoever.
